Excellent inexpensive compressor/limiter from the folks who brought us FreeverbToo; shareware at US$25.

If you don't pay, you get a periodic nag screen.

Not only is this a great tool, it has a display that lets you see just what it's doing, so it's highly recommended for the beginner as well as expert.

Relatively simple controls and good set of features.

I use this as a mastering tool for quick mixes (for posting collaboration auditions, etc.) It gives me a quick 4 dB boost with no hassle, bringing out the detail in the music without squashing it. I'm sure it would be handy for squashing too, if that's what you want to do.
